1965 FORD GT40 (REPLICA), 3,488 MILES

One of Great Britain's high-quality GT 40 kits from the late '80s sat unassembled until 2000 when its new owner delivered it to a New Mexico professional performance shop for a complete build. Completed in 2001, the car was delivered to its then 63 year old Oklahoma owner. With the recent death of that owner, this beautiful seven year old recreation is now available for sale at the request of his widow. It is totally street legal, licensed and titled in Oklahoma as a 1965 Ford GT 40. It was not built for, or used for, racing but rather as a show car, use in car club activities and an ocassional parade. An attention getter wherever it goes, and a consistent award winner whenever shown. The Burgundy with White stripe paint scheme is very attractive and kept looking like new with the help of a garage and a custom car cover. The photos also show the very beautiful Crimson Red soft leather seats of original GT 40 design, as well as a nicely detailed engine comparment. Powered by Ford's 302/347 stroker engine w/roller cam, producing max power of 490 bhp and torgue of 525 ft/lb., mated to a 5 speed Renault transaxle. The Haltek electronic fuel injection is fed by two 45 PSI fuel pumps from two 8.4 gal. fuel cells mounted outboard, one on each side of the cockpit. Brakes on both front and rear are 11 inch diameter, 5/8 th's inch thickness, Alcon solid Billet alloy 4-piston calipers. The 2464 lb. car is riding on 15 inch BF Goodrich VR rated radials, 225/50 front, 265/50 rear with 8" and 10" wide wheels. Other specifications/performance figures available upon request. The total amount invested in bringing this striking sports car from the kit crate to the highway was considerably more than what it is expected to bring currently and the owner/widow is fully aware of that. While internet research can reveal a number of GT 40 replicas with descriptions, pictures and asking prices it is not real easy to determine exactly where this one fits in. While she doesn't want to "give it away" she would like to price it where it will sell "sooner than later." Therefore, this extremely nice, low mileage GT40 is offered for sale at $78,500.
