The car is a 1960 Ford Starliner. The concept here was for an ultimate restomod. The two door hardtop body was married to a chassis from a 1994 Lincoln. The 4.6 ltr EFI V-8 engine, the four speed automatic overdrive transmission and the differential are all from a 1996 Lincoln. Those components are original and in excellent operating condition. The chassis was stripped to bare frame and every worn or questionable part was inspected and renewed or replaced as necessary. The steering and suspension components are all Lincoln parts. This car rides and steers as new.
The electronic instrument panel from the Lincoln has been neatly worked into the original Starliner dash. When you lift the hood, it is as if you are looking at a stock original Lincoln. Every component is in it’s place.
The centre console is from a 1964 Mercury and has had the cruise control switches worked into the face. The total interior restoration includes new seat upholstery, carpets, door panels, sill plates and sun visors. The interior is completed with a custom steering wheel with a “Starliner” inscription added to the wheel centre.
The body of the Starliner has been meticulously restored and is arrow straight with perfect panel alignment. The paint is amazing! All chrome on this car is new, re-chromed or original polished pieces. The fuel system from the Lincoln has been used and a custom fuel door has been designed on the rear quarter. The car has a new windshield and the rest of the glass is excellent.
Like most of us, I have followed Barrett Jackson auctions for several years. I have seen cars of this quality and uniqueness fetch well in excess of a hundred grand. The asking price on this amazing one of a kind vehicle is $45,000.00 US.
