2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2wd Short Bed Pickup
"The Chevy is good enough that something as simple as a styling preference or the need for your business to use magnetized signs on the truck's doors could sway a purchase without regrets. This is a truck that's easy to embrace. It knows what it wants to be. It's a truck's truck: unpretentious, self confident, and full of classic virtues such as a column mounted shifter." Excerpted from Car and Driver's full size truck comparison, Jan. 2015
For consignment, a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2 wheel drive short bed pick up truck in menacing black, lowered, and sporting headers and a custom exhaust.
Exterior
The first thing that hits you is the enormous vertical face of the truck with its large black bumper, oversized grille slats, and tall stacked headlights. The black is contrasted only by the gold bowtie emblem and the stacked amber marker lights. In profile, this flat front represents one side of a boxy design which is bookended by the tailgate, highlighted by large black panels including the bed, and only a shark's fin antenna to break up the smooth border that outlines the truck. It's been lowered and hugs the 20-inch black wheels looking a bit like a NASCAR race truck on steroids. The truck has been debadged which only enhances its sinister look, and the tinted glass assists in the overall look of the truck which would be as welcome at cruise night as it would in a Lowe's parking lot. The vinyl tonneau cover is taut and clean and undoubtedly helps with aerodynamics. The paint is clean on the truck and the only imperfection we find is one area of light scratching and the bed showing evidence of use.
Interior
Jet Black and Dark Ash are used for the interior palette which starts with the well built door panels full of purposeful shapes and depressions with a leather clad armrest and molded plastic lower panels that contain cavernous storage bins. The tall black leather seats are heavily bolstered and clean, with the driver's side showing just a bit of compression and creasing. In the middle, a large center console separates the seats and provides deep storage and accessible cupholders and a padded armrest. Standard steering wheel and dash present to the driver and includes six gauges that surround an information screen. In the center, is an integrated screen, radio controls for the AM/FM with 4G, Bluetooth, and MyLink, and the A/C panel, all surrounded with black plastic. Low pile black carpet covers the floor in decent condition and the molded foam headliner around an overhead console is in good shape.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a clean 5.3 liter V8, fuel injected, and tied to a 6L80E 6-speed automatic transmission sending power to the 10 bolt rear with 3.42 gears. Power disc brakes are supplied on this modern truck front and back. A cold air kit has been added to the engine bay and long tube headers added to the engine.
Undercarriage
Driver quality conditions prevail underneath with typical areas of surface rust. None presents a problem at this point but if we owned it, we might encapsulate some of the more pitted points of surface rust including the U-bolt plates on the axle and on the frame rails. It's all dry underneath with no leaks noted and only hints of road spray. The headers lead to a union of the two to form a single exhaust, a cat back system which enters a stainless steel muffler then snakes its way to the back where it exits behind the rear wheel. Independent front suspension is matched with leaf springs in the back.
Drive-Ability
A turn of the key and the 5.3 comes to life with a healthy exhaust note that puts the factory sound to shame! As soon as our brains adjusted to being in a large cab but riding low, we rolled this black beauty onto the test loop where it tracked well, handled very nicely, and provided adequate acceleration. In addition, all functional items worked as they should in this comfortable truck! While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
