1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396. Quite the performer with the 4-speed behind the 396, This car was bought new by a lady named Clara on August 2nd 1966at Crawley Chevrolet in Shelby North Carolina for a price of $3981.86, with payments of 88.47 per month after trading in her 1954 2-door Chev. How do we know this? Because a whole pile of amazing historical documents come with the car! The original bill of sale, window sticker and other documents tell the whole story. Apparently the second owner of the car, Don Taylor had it re-painted, then it was sold to a museum in Florida, then purchased by Reggie Jackson (MLB baseball player) and eventually went on to be sold at the Barret Jackson Scottsdale Auction in 1987. Registrations included prove Reggie Jackson owned the car. The original Warranty Protection Plan and Owners Manual come along too! With the papers that come with the car, along with the date codes on the engine, we have been able to verify this is a true 138 vin car, meaning it's a real 396 SS car, with the numbers matching engine still there! The car was and still is black and was ordered with a black vinyl roof, 4-speed manual, push button radio, center console with astro bucket seats, rear antenna, deluxe seat belts, wheel trim covers, tinted windshield and a sandalwood tan interior. That combination would have been pretty handsome. Somewhere along the way, the interior was changed to all black. There's a clock in the console and a period correct aftermarket tach on the dash. The interior is in nice condition along with the exterior. Rally wheels and tires look great. The trunk has the correct spackle finish and a pair of spare tires. Overall condition of the car is very nice. It runs and drives great! Cool documented history, and one very unique Chevelle SS!
