Taken from the army and made for the masses, few trucks can compare with the iconic status of the Civilian Jeep (CJ) series of one of America's favorite vehicles. This 1982 Jeep CJ5 is fully repainted in an eye-catching bright blue, with a complementary grey/black soft top, half-doors, and a padded roll bar. With its tubular chrome front brush guard and matching rear bumper, this CJ is ready to enjoy the fun on or off road whenever you are.
Inside, this CJ retains its relatively no-frills, militaristic personality, but with a welcome softer touch in some instances. An aftermarket center console, complete with lockable storage and cupholders, separates a pair of comfy, bucket seats. A power-assisted three-spoke Grant GT wheel sits ahead of an offset gauge cluster mounted on a body-color dashboard, featuring a large 85 mph speedometer flanked by AutoMeter auxiliary gauges for volts, engine temperature, and oil pressure. HVAC controls consist of a series of push/pull and twist knobs, making it easy to keep your eyes on the road through the upright, fold-down windshield. A chrome expletive bar gives the front passenger something to grab onto when the road disappears and their center of gravity shifts outside their comfort zone. A RetroSound AM/FM/AUX head unit pumps out the soundtrack of your choosing through big speakers mounted beneath the dash.
Under the hood, we find a transplanted 350 cubic-inch crate V-8 engine. Fed by a single four-barrel Holley carburetor mounted to an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, spent gases are done away with via a set of long tube Hedman headers and out of a true dual exhaust. That power is funneled through a no-nonsense four-speed manual transmission on its way to the rear wheels. Or engage the manually locking front hubs, shift into four-wheel high or four-wheel low, and send power to all four wheels for maximum traction.
