The continued evolution of the iconic Jaguar E-Type from the Series I meant that the Series 2 introduced in 1968 had a more comfortable and reliable ride, coupled with superior performance, handling and appearance.
The distinctive glass headlight covers were replaced with open lights and other lighting was relocated and made larger. Other design changes included a wraparound rear bumper, re-positioned and bigger front indicators with the tail lights below the bumper, twin electric fans and an enlarged grille to aid cooling and rocket switches in place of the Series I toggle switches. A new collapsible steering column and a combination steering lock and ignition key also were new to the Series 2.
This 1970 E-Type has an inline six-cylinder engine with two Stromberg carburetors, four speed manual transmission, torsion bar independent front suspension, coil spring independent rear suspension and four-wheel hydraulic disk brakes.
Changed from its original color of silver blue this car underwent a professional restoration as the owner desired in Signal Red. No expense was spared. The engine has been completely rebuilt and not d riven often since, the engine and drive train have undergone extensive inspections and maintenance.
The radials are new and the all chrome wire wheels have been completely restored. The black leather shows very well and although this car is no longer in Concours condition it runs flawlessly and will give its new owner miles of driving pleasure.
