This was the final year for the legendary Mercury Eight series. These really had a terrific look to them with the grille and the bumper are part of an integral design. And you see the same in the rear where the ends of the bumpers expand to merge with the hint of tailfin. Even the brightwork details are great, like the large hood ornament, dual spotlights, and sweeping side trim. We especially love the wheels. Not only do you get classic whitewalls, but also the factory wheel covers with the Mercury logo center. You see all of this so vividly because the yellow is a terrific '50s color that also provides the perfect canvas to showcase all these details. You can really tell this was a restoration of love. But more than just a great total presentation, these are rare. As an expensive premium droptop, Mercury produced less than 6,800 examples in 1951.
