GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this stunning 1955 Ford Thunderbird. This brilliant bird comes in a clean red paint job complemented by a stunning white removable hard top, soft top and a matching interior. Both the convertible tops are in excellent condition and function as they should. Powering the Thunderbird is believed to be the original 292 cubic inch V8 motor mated to a crisp manual transmission. Additionally, a full restoration is believed to have been completed on the vehicle based on its excellent condition. The Thunderbird comes to us from a private collection where it has lived for over 14 years. As such the vehicle has always been properly maintained and stored. Don't miss out on such a stylish piece of American automotive history. Please call or email us for more information.
The Ford Thunderbird hit the market in 1955 in was a direct response to the Chevrolet Corvette. While the Corvette aimed to impress with performance, the T-bird was all about style and substance. Dubbed the first ""personal car"" by Ford, it was described as a direct descendant of the bespoke 1930s roadsters and was aimed as a brisk grand tourer. It was light for its era and the powerful V8 could propel it to around 120 mph. The 1955 model featured the proven 292cid Y-block V8 and had bumper mounted exhausts and a trunk-mounted spare tire.
