We love a good hero classic, and that's why it's tough to beat this 1979 Ford Mustang Ghia Fastback. After all, this was the first year for the Fox Body cars, and these were really credited with restoring the image of a powerful pony car. You'll even appreciate the little classic details, like the working dome light, early steering wheel, and AM/FM sterol with 8-track. This was even a factory air conditioning car. The controls are there if you'd like to restore the function, but the components were taken out because the motor is currently focused a bit more on giving you better power.
Under the hood is an ultra-clean and tidy setup that really goes with this car's overall feeling of exceptional care. And this is the kind of powerhouse that really makes this a great way to celebrate the 3rd gen Mustang. It was the car that was seen as a return to the power ponies of before, and doing right by the 302ci/5.0-liter motor was the key. So while this one was optioned from the start with the desirable V8, the powerhouse under the hood now also benefits from an upgraded Edelbrock intake and a Holley four-barrel carburetor. It's not out to be a blacktop burner, and instead, it keeps a nice tone from the newer exhaust. But this Ghia has a nice feeling on the road, and it also is an easy cruiser with power steering, power brakes, front discs, and a three-speed automatic transmission.
