Sometimes you just want a nice old truck. Not a beater, not someone else's old work truck, but something you can wash on the weekends without feeling like you're wasting your time, a truck that gets nods of approval in the parking lot, a truck that looks and runs great that doesn't cost a fortune. Overall, this is a clean, original truck with no real cosmetic needs that would prevent you from enjoying it as-is, and the curb appeal is off the charts with this Square Body. The chrome and stainless are still bright, and it's obvious that some of it has been replaced to contrast that dark blue paint wonderfully. The original tinted glass is clear, and the newer accessory bed rails add a sporty look and a lot of functionality. The stock Silverado interior is in fine order, too, with dark blue cloth-and-vinyl on the bench seat and an ocean of matching blue carpet underfoot. In contrast to some of the more basic Round Line trucks, the carpet adds a level of luxury that is sorely missing when all you get is a rubber mat and you can feel it the moment you climb aboard. There are also great original options like A/C, a comfort-tilt wheel, electronic cruise control, a Quartz electric clock, as well as power windows and locks, so it's obvious that someone had plans for this truck that didn't involve dirty boots and hard work. The dash and gauges are all original, and even the original AM/FM/Cassette radio is still tucked in there by the driver. This is a very impressive interior that has clearly been well-maintained over the last 65k original miles, resulting in a time-capsule set-up that is a perfect complement to the exterior. The great thing about vintage trucks is that the best of them come with V8 engines; in this truck's case, it's still running its original 305 cubic inch V8, aka the 5.0L small block Chevy. Looking completely stock, it runs very well, delivering smooth power and torque without a hiccup thanks to the low miles on the clock. Most of the original components were retained, including the air cleaner, accessories, and even the original stamped steel valve covers and air snorkel are still intact. All the original wiring remains in excellent condition, and with fresh-looking belts, hoses, plugs, wires, and other components, this Square Body is running at its best. The TH350 3-speed automatic transmission still offers crisp shifts up and down the throttle, and it spins a 10-bolt rear end with highway-friendly 3.08 gears inside that are perfect for any road condition. A quick-look underneath shows off the benefits of an easy life spent in warm and sunny Texas, and even the catalytic convertor is still in place and ready to tackle emissions standards, if need be. It sits on factory Rally wheels with trim rings that are all wrapped in rugged BFGoodrich All-Terrain white-letter radials with plenty of tread left. Take this truck just about anywhere and you will undoubtedly hear, ""Nice truck,"" and get an approving nod. These were handsome machines when new and today are gaining respect as collector's items.
