2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 gains range, off-road model, and Tesla charge port
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 arrives with numerous updates to the popular retro-future-inspired electric crossover, including a new trim, new tech, and a new charging standard. All 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 get a few exterior updates as well. New front and rear bumpers with slightly tweak styling add an additional inch to the car's overall length. The rear window finally gets its own wiper, something buyers in colder climates have been clamoring for for a while. New wheel designs round out the mild exterior updates. These exterior tweaks are quite subtle, with the Ioniq 5 retaining the iconic 80s hatchback-inspired look that's helped it make a name for itself as a practical yet stylish EV. A new off-road-focused XRT trim makes its debut for the 2025 model year. Visually, this new trim features unique black plastic body cladding and trim-specific bumpers that give it a rugged, rally-inspired look. These unpainted plastic bumpers feature a unique pixelated camo pattern. Other XRT features include front two hooks, unique dark wheels, all-terrain tires, and a few interior updates as well. Long-range versions swap their 77.4-kWh units for 84-kWh ones that should give AWD versions 280+ miles of range and RWD versions 310+ miles of range. Hyundai did not mention any updated performance numbers, but we expect them to remain largely unchanged. Inside, buyers will find a mildly updated cabin as well. The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 inherits the trick light-up steering wheel of the Ioniq 6, complete with four small pixel-dot lights that light up to communicate car functions like the voice command system. The wireless phone charging pad has been moved closer to the driver on the left side of the center console as well. Buttons for the heated and cooled seat controls can also now be found on the center console, as well as an additional button for the park assist system. Climate control and radio control dials have also been slightly updated to make them easier to use. All welcome updates in a world seemingly so focused on moving controls onto touchscreens. Additional interior updates include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with updated park assist and lane-keeping systems. Other big news for 2025 is the native inclusion of the Tesla NACS charge port. Located on the right rear of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5, this port will give owners native support for Tesla charging stations, including the brand's class-leading Supercharger DC fast charging stations. All 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5s will also come with a CCS adapter should you find yourself at a charging station only equipped with the CCS plug featured on previous Ioniq 5s. Hyundai hasn't released pricing for the updated 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5, but with production moving to the company's plant in Georgia soon, the company expects models produced later in the model year to qualify for the full $7,500 federal EV credit. The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is expected to reach US dealers by the end of the year. The post 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 gains range, off-road model, and Tesla charge port appeared first on The Torque Report .
