Presented by Chevrolet Performance and Driven by Continental Tire Hot Rod Power Tour allows for car guys and gals have some of the most epic and unique automotive experiences of a lifetime. This year select participants were able to take their car own cars and drive them on the hallowed concrete of Bristol Motor Speedway. Standing in the infield surrounded by half a mile of 20-plus-degree banked turns and steep grandstands fit for 160,000 people is the closest thing to feeling like a gladiator as it gets, making the track aptly named The Last Great Colosseum. Yesterday you could feel the electricity of the place and smell fuel burning as drivers took to the track in their cars. It was surreal seeing such a diverse mixture of vehicles taking to the track, which is normally stuffed to the gills with 43 neon Cup cars battling it out for the win. We got to jump in with Chris Reynolds, owner of a cherry 1966 Mustang GT Fastback who is out on his second Power Tour with two buddies from Tampa. The retired Airforce Serviceman is a two-time Long Hauler and having a blast. He was kind enough to lend us a ride around Thunder Valley in a car that felt right at home. The roaring gen-2 Coyote engine echoed off the walls as we went around the track while he and his buddies messed around like street racing teenagers. These experiences and camaraderie are what its all about. These long-time friends are out on the tour having a blast and it goes to show that theres no bad day on Power Tour.
