This is one of five vintage race cars that were obtained for the sole purpose of putting on display at a museum that is being constructed in Kansas City, Mo. Each one of these vehicles can be viewed here on our website. All five of these cars are built on fiberglass bodies and were constructed by professional racers and car builders. Any one of them would make for great display pieces for any enthusiast or collector.
This car was owned by Stan Durrum. He raced midgets in late 50’s/early ‘60’s and then transitioned into ownership of jalopies/modifieds in the Vermont area into the 80’s. Had a few well known Modifieds drivers drive for him. This car is likely a home-built chassis, first record of it I found was early 50’s when it was owned by Dooger Jones. Durrum bought it in 1971 (outdated at that point). That’s likely when the Chevy ll engine was placed in the car (common midget engine from late 60’s to 1980 when the VW engine took over). Durrum continued to use the car in vintage races until 1990.
